GETTING RIDING

A few simple steps to get you riding - and racing!

  1. Best place to start is by attending a Club Night on a Thursday to check out racing in action and to ask questions or try some bikes. If you are interested in having a go, its recommended that you attend club training before you tackle our ramp or, for kids 7 years and under, the Kiwi Spocket Programme (see below) will give junior riders the skills they need to ride safely. You do not need a BMX NZ Licence to attend club nights.

  2. Try out our sprocket / new riders training on Thursdays. Cambridge BMX allows potential members to trial club training for three free sessions to see if you like it.

  3. Club training caters to all ages and is on a Tuesday evening and is $40 for the season.

  4. Join the club. To race BMX, you need to be a member of an affiliated BMX Club and hold a BMX NZ Licence. BMX Licences are issued nationally through BMX NZ via our club Sporty page, and do not allow use across Mountain Bike, Road and Track events.

  5. Riders 8 years and older can choose a Regional membership / licence which allows you to attend Cambridge club training, club nights and to attend club nights in other clubs within the Waikato region but a regional membership does not allow you to attend official race meets.  You will need a  Challenge license if you want to compete outside the Waikato region.
