IMGA NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP

Heats: 17th and 18th of October 2019 Trents Estate - 150 Trents Rd, Prebbleton, Christchurch, NZ

Finals: 19th of October 2019 Ellesmere A and P Showgrounds - Leeston, Christchurch, NZ


Canterbury Mounted Games Association along with NZMGA will be hosting this international competition, the Nations Team Championship in Canterbury, NZ from the 13th - 19th October 2019, with heats at Trents Estate, Prebbleton and finals at the Ellesmere Agricultural & Pastoral Show, Leeston, Canterbury.

 This event involves NZ and international teams from South Africa, Australia, Canada, the USA and possibly Nigeria and Burkino Faso. The semi finals and finals will be held in front of the crowd at the premium time immediately before the Grand Parade at the Ellesmere A&P Show.

Team arrival is from 2pm on Sunday the 12th of October.

Trents Estate, a well-known wedding venue in a beautiful setting on 30 hectares, will be home base for the teams, with camping, all catering and pony accomodation on site, culminating in a gala dinner at ilex in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens after the competition final.

Ellesmere A&P show is great local event in Canterbury, with various animal classes, a large vintage machinery display, wood chopping, sheep shearing, retail stalls and entertainment in a rural canterbury  town just 20 minutes from home base  https://ellesmereshow.co.nz/                                                                                                

All surfaces for training, heats and finals will be held on well-groomed grass pitches.

Outside activities:  Trips to international Antarctic Centre and Christchurch Botanical gardens, with optional punting or canoeing on the Avon, Airforce Museum visit and city tour by Chch Tram. 

Other Information: Prebbleton is 15 minutes from Christichurch City, Leeston is Aprox 30 minutes from Christchurch City. There are some great shopping centres close by including Rolleston and Hornby,  with Dressmart - an outlet shopping centre as well as specialty shopping like fashion and equestrian shops in close proximity. Click here
