2019/20 SCHEDULES ARE HERE!

Can’t wait for summer? Great news. We’ll be playing cricket again in little more than nine weeks from today!

Schedules for all NZC’s national Domestic competitions have just been released and we’ve got a fantastic line-up of red-ball and white-ball entertainment in store for you in the 2019/20 cricket season.

And, it just gets better — this season, our WHITE FERNS and BLACKCAPS T20 stars will be on show for the whole of the Super Smash!

No question at all, the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup was a brilliant reminder to us all of just how thrilling the one-day game can be so we’re really excited to be bringing a smorgasbord of 50-over con-tests to Palmerston North, Nelson and New Plymouth (Central Stags in The Ford Trophy), and Levin and New Plymouth (Central Hinds, our Hallyburton Johnstone Shield champions) in our home games this season.

Super Smash will also be back with bells on, the big hits coming to both Napier and New Plymouth. Warming us up for the Stags in full roar will be November’s T20is against England — the BLACKCAPS set to turn it on in both Nelson and Napier.

Make sure you’re signed up to our Cricket Nation newsletter and you’ll be among the first to know when member pre-sales and deals go on sale for both the BLACKCAPS games and our Super Smash and Ford Trophy matches — it’s free to join! Sign up here

Our T20 line-up is outstanding with our defending national champi-ons — go the Central Stags! — hosting great rivals the Knights in the Friday-night-under-lights Super Smash season opener at Na-pier’s McLean Park on 13 December.

These two star-studded teams have serious history, having fought each other in the national Final for two years straight. Don’t miss the first rematch when the Stags will look to serve up a repeat dose of record-breaking pain on our pink-clad northern neighbours!

Hawke’s Bay has a windfall of T20 action this summer with the big Stags-Knights clash just the first of five Super Smash fixtures for the Bay.

Doubleheaders at McLean Park will see the Hinds and Stags play back-to-back in the same stadium — two games for the price of one and twice the fun. Get your Christmas shopping done early so you can relax on the embankment for the first T20 doubleheader against Canterbury’s Magicians and Kings, Monday 23 December. It’s a mid-afternoon kick-off with the Hinds, culminating in the Stags match under lights.

Our dazzling green teams will be back at McLean Park over the holiday season on 2 January for another exciting T20 doublehead-er against Otago’s Sparks and Volts — again starting from the fam-ily friendly time of 3.40pm, with the Stags playing under lights in the evening. That means you can enjoy a holiday sleep-in, then head along for a totes relaxing and chilled day at the Park as we all continue to recover from seeing in the New Year!

The Hinds and Stags will be busy as, however, hitting Pukekura Park in the interim to entertain our Taranaki homies with a brilliant FOUR Super Smash T20s across TWO days!

If you’ve never been to world-famous Pukekura Park, you are missing out on one of the great cricketing experiences — so this is perfect to make this YOUR YEAR with non-stop action almighty.

The rest of us already know this is one special place with full ter-races — just don’t leave it too late to secure your spot! Do make sure you’re signed up for our free Cricket Nation e-newsletter and you’ll be among the first to know once tickets go on sale. Plus you get access to special member-only opportunities and discounts!

The Pukekura Park T20 doubleheader action starts Friday 27 De-cember against Wellington’s Blaze and Firebirds. The Blaze are the women’s national champions, so this is a cracker for the Hinds, a big match — while Stags-Firebirds matches always see the feathers flying!

The second instalment of the Pukekura Park festival sees the Auckland Hearts and Aces swing into town on the 28th — again, no love lost here between our teams and the big city slickers. We know who will be keeping it real… buckle up for a high-octane af-ternoon of sixes flying out of the park and wickets being smashed!!

The renowned TSB Festival of Lights is also all on in Pukekura Park at this time of year, so plan yourself an awesome family day out by catching the family-friendly T20 entertainment, enjoying the fun and great food, ice creams and bevvies on the terraces, then strolling over to the free evening concerts and stunning visuals of New Zealand’s leading light show. How good, Taranaki.

Hey, and if you’re holidaying around the country — the Hinds and Stags could be playing nearby. The players love spotting our sup-porters in enemy territory, and they are always happy to autograph your green gear and share a selfie afterwards so make yourself known! Plus, our SPIKERS CLUB members get in for free to every Central game in NZ — home or away, which is 100 per cent awe-some. Check out the full Super Smash holiday fixtures list here

CD’s season will officially open on 21 October 2019 when the Cen-tral Stags begin what we all hope will be a (super rare) Plunket Shield three-peat — something never before achieved by the Stags.

The opening first-class round is away in Auckland: it’s the first of the eight rounds of four-day cricket that will see our defending na-tional champions also visit Northern Districts at Bay Oval before heading home for the first of four home matches — hosting Can-terbury at Nelson’s Saxton Oval 8-11 November.

This clash was one of the highlights last summer — with Ross Tay-lor in action for us, and a thrilling win — so we can’t wait to see what happens this season against the unpredictable red and blacks.

Some super important home matches at McLean Park will round out the end of summer in the Shield and the Stags have a terrific record of winning in Napier, too. Proper hard fought cricket, tactical battles and riveting grunty expertise on display!

The Stags’ Ford Trophy action starts after three rounds of Plunket Shield and will be bracketed around the Super Smash window this season.

The Stags are fired up to return to their trophy-winning best in the one-day format and will have a strong team this summer to do just that.

Dominating the one-day scene with record-breaking feats to lift the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield last summer, Anlo van Deventer’s Central Hinds are meanwhile determined to back up and again bring the national HBJ Grand Final home to CD — after such a thrilling occasion at Pukekura Park earlier this year when they beat the Hearts for the crown!

The T20 20/20 in 2020 SuperSmash Final will take place at the end of March. The first of the 10 rounds to get there begins at Lev-in’s Donnelly Park this November 16 and 17, a free-admission op-portunity to come support our national champions in a heartland doubleheader over the weekend against the Otago Sparks.

The Hinds and Stags will also both be hosting 50-over action against everyone’s fave team to beat, the Cantabs, at New Plymouth’s Pukekura Park in February — the Stags on Sunday the 9th and the Hinds with a double round on Feb 22 and 23. Palmy North gets to heckle the Cantabs too when the Stags hit town, so no one misses out.

After claiming three of the five titles last summer, how many tro-phies will it be for CD this year? Spot you at the park!
