In 2011 Takapau and Wanstead Pony Club Branches merged to form a new club, with no branches, under the name Central Hawke’s Bay Pony Club. Likewise, Dannevirke Pony Club has also become a club in its own right now named Dannevirke and Districts Pony Club.

Central Hawke’s Bay was one of the first pony clubs in NZ started in 1945 by Mrs Gaylene Bousfield. Back then we had 12 local Branches! We were affiliated to the national body NZPCA in 1956.

CHBPC has 2 venues for rallies – the Takapau Memorial Park Sports Grounds (Council owned) and Lake Station, Wanstead where the Club has been supported and encouraged by the Barrett family.
