DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Coastline District Rugby League (CDRL) is the regional organisation charged with leading, developing, promoting and fostering Rugby League in Coastline District.

CDRL has built a strong and loyal following across the Coastline region for over 20+ years.  As an organisation CDRL plays an important role within the community by delivering on its strategic plan, CDRL will continue to build on its rich history and create a bright future for the game.


Rob leads the development and promotion of rugby league in primary, intermediate and secondary schools as well as our junior rugby league & sports clubs.

The coaching space is a key focus area for CDRL as we look to improve the development of Coastline coaches at the grassroots and representative levels.

The primary focus for Rob in his role as Development Officer is the delivery of Coastline Rugby League’s youth and junior coaching and development plan within the Coastline District. This position will also be required to assist in the overall planning and delivery of training to all coaches, however, their primary focus will be upon developing and supporting youth coaches in the club setting.

Purpose

Accountable for improving the quality of coaching, increasing the numbers of proficient / capable / accredited coaches at all levels of rugby league across Coastline and driving increased player retention. Rob is tasked with the development of the coaching strategy and implementation plan to create an effective system that will establish inspired and inspirational Coastline rugby league coaches at all levels. This system will also maximise the performance, wellbeing and development of players at grassroots, through to premier, attracting new players and coaches to the game and ensuring year on year retention of players and coaches.    

Rob's skills and experience include:

  • Extensive experience in a sport development role (10+ years).
  • Relevant tertiary training and/or qualification.
  • A a passion for delivering sport to youth.
  • An understanding of sport and education settings in New Zealand.
  • An outstanding communicator, and is able to present to a wide variety of people.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Strong (and timely) reporting skills.
  • Able to deliver (high quality) programmes in an educational setting at all levels.
  • Sound knowledge of Coastline Rugby League, its goals and objectives.
  • Confidence dealing with clubs, youth, volunteers and local authorities and community groups.
  • Good computer skills.
