General Information

The details below partically pertain to the trial and pre-season dates for our Metro and Development (Conference) teams. If you would like your child to be considered for any of these teams, please get in touch with the relevant coaches / managers for each grade. There will be conatct details under each section for you to register your interest.

If you already know you want your child to play with friends in one of the social (non Metro or Conference) teams please highlight this when registering for the 2019 session – if this is the case you do not need to attend any trial sessions.

FAQs:

  • Do you have to trial?
    • YES if you want to be considered for either Metro or Development teams.
    • NO if you want to be part of an ECB social team.
    • NO if you have already been invited to the closed/invite only session by the coach.
  • What happens after the initial trials?
    • There will be by invitation only closed trials to make the final selection of players.
  • What happens at a trial?
    • A mixture of technical sessions, small sided games and full field games.
  • What is the coach/selectors looking for?
    • attitude,
    • skill level,
    • knowledge of the game,
    • passion,
    • willingness to learn,
    • a balance of individual flare and team spirit.
  • What happens during the session, once in a team, is that for the session?
    • For many players the answer will be yes, however players will improve at different rates, coming in and out of form and if part of the Metro and Development teams there will be regular opportunity for the movement of some players between the two squads. Better players in the social/competitive teams (although not as regularly) will also have their progress tracked and if warranted invited to train with the squad Metro and/or development teams.

U17 and Men's development team trials.

Exciting times ahead for players born 2000 - 2004. A fantastic turn out for the spring training sessions with nearly 100% of returning players joining many new talented players looking to join ECB and strengthen the squads. The level of talent and depth within the Men's development and U17s teams bodes for very exciting times ahead.

Invitations have been sent out for U17 Metro and Tournament trials, with the U17 tournament taking place mid March. These sessions start on Tuesday 15th January at 6:30pm and will be held twice a week on Tues and Thurs. If you have not received an invite, then please get in touch urgently.

ACTN3, located in Browns Bay, have been engaged to supply strength and conditioning training during the pre-season and this will really prepare the lads for the upcoming tournaments and season.

U17 Development trials and pre-season sessions start on Tuesday 29th January.


12th Grade Team Trials

12th Grade trials will be held at Ashley Reserve on Wednesday the 6th and the 13th February. These will run from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.

All players are advised to be there ay least 20 minutes early to register your name with the coaches.

Pre-season training will then start on Thursday Feb 21st.

If you wish to trial for this team, the trials are open for the time being, so please turn up on the evening and introduce yourself.

13th Grade Metro/Development Team Trials

Ashley Park – 5pm

Open Trial Dates:

  • January 16th , 22nd & 23rd 2019

If your child would like to be considered for the Metro or Development team please arrange to come to at least one of the sessions.

Please bring water, shin pads and be prepared to participate in both small sided and full field games.

Following these open trial sessions there will be closed (invite only) sessions to help pick ECB Metro and Development teams (2xGKs & approx.. 26 outfield players). If not selected ECB is a large club and you will be able to join and play for one of our social/competitive teams at 13th grade level.


9th Grade Trials

Trials will be held at Ashley Reserve on the following days:

Thursday Jan 31st, 4:30 - 6pm
Thursday Feb 7th, 4:30 - 6pm
Thursday Feb 14th, 4:30 - 6pm

All players are advised to be there at least 20 minutes before the session starts with shin pads, boots and drink bottle.

10th Grade Team Trials

10th Grade trials will commence soon and interested players are asked to attend the sessions as detailed below.   Please register your interest with Jeff Honey, 10th Grade Convenor, 021 613 292 or [email protected]

Dates: Thursday 24th, 31st of Jan and 7th of Feb

Time: 4 to 5.30pm

Location: Bays City Park number 3

Squad to be announced no later than Friday Feb 8th

11th Grade Team Trials

Sunday Feb 3, 9-11am
Tuesday Feb 5, 5 - 7pm
Thursday Feb 7, 5 -7pm.
