On behalf of Croquet New Zealand, I would like to welcome players from Australia, Egypt, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain and USA.  Your selection reflects the hard work, skill and determination to reach this level.  You have been climbing a mountain to reach the peak and this is the next test.

Whaia te iti kahurangi ki te tuohu koe me he maunga teitei:  Seek the treasure you value most dearly: if you bow your head, let it be to a lofty mountain.  This whakatauki is about aiming high or for what is truly valuable, but its real message is to be persistent and don't let obstacles stop you from reaching your goal.  You have met many obstacles to reach this point.  Continue to persevere.  Tena koutou katoa.  Nau mai haere mai ki Whanganui a tara Croquet Hawke's Bay mo te Women's Worlds Golf Croquet Championship.

I would like to convey my deeply felt appreciation to Croquet Hawke's Bay for hosting this event and to the Organising Committee and Officials for the tremendous work you have done to prepare for the tournament as well as the work you will do during the tournament.

There is a special camaraderie at this event that is created by the warmth and care of the players.  I wish all of you a memorable tournament, much success and lots of fun.
