Welcome from Bill Dalton, Mayor of Napier City Council

I extend a warm welcome to all the participants in the Golf Croquet Women's World Championship in Hawke’s Bay.

I also offer thanks to the organisers – we would miss fine events such as this without their dedication and commitment.

This is a sport with a long history, and I do believe it forms the basis of many people’s experience of the popular garden-party game - a wonderful interactive and social game at that.

To all the players and supporters from outside the region, may your week here be enjoyable as well as bring plenty of wins.

I do hope you are able to check out what Napier has to offer as well, including our unique Art Deco heritage, our cafes, restaurants, pathways and cycleways, plus the many other recreational and social opportunities we have to offer. The same goes for our talented locals.

All the best for your matches, and if you have travelled from afar, I do hope we see you here again soon.
