WELCOME TO GISBORNE NETBALL

Gisborne Netball is a place where people come together, grow their skills and enjoy the game. Our courts are filled with tamariki, rangatahi, seniors, umpires, coaches and whānau who support each other and create a positive space for everyone. Whether you are playing, learning, helping or cheering from the sideline, you are part of our netball family.

Haere mai. Join us and feel at home here.

Be part of our Junior Umpire Whanau in 2026

Let's face it...without umpires there is no netball! So GNC want to help grow and nurture our next generation of umpires.  Are you ready to jump on the waka?

Why Become a Junior Netball Umpire?

1. Earn money while staying in the game Get paid $10 per game – perfect pocket money for doing something you already love!

2. Build confidence Umpiring helps you speak up clearly, make decisions under pressure and believe in yourself - These skills help at school, sport, and in everyday life.

3. Learn the rules inside out Understand the game better than most players – which actually makes you a smarter, stronger player too.

4. Be a leader on court Umpires are in charge of the game. You’ll develop leadership skills and earn respect from players and coaches.

5. Great for your CV / future jobs Being a Junior Umpire shows employers that you are responsible, reliable, confident and able to work with people.

6. Stay active and fit You’re moving, running, and involved in the game – not sitting on the sideline.

7. Make new friends Meet other junior umpires from different schools and teams. You become part of a fun, supportive umpire team.

8. Supported and trained  You won’t be thrown in alone – you’ll get training sessions, mentors, feedback and encouragement. We help you grow step by step.

9. Pathway to higher levels  Junior umpiring can lead to Senior umpiring, representative games, regional and national opportunities. It can become a real sporting pathway if you love it
