Gisborne Netball is a place where people come together, grow their skills and enjoy the game. Our courts are filled with tamariki, rangatahi, seniors, umpires, coaches and whānau who support each other and create a positive space for everyone. Whether you are playing, learning, helping or cheering from the sideline, you are part of our netball family.

Without umpires, there is no netball. GNC wants to support our rangatahi to learn umpiring and get out on court.

Why Give Umpiring a Go?

Who Can Register?

  • Rangatahi in Years 7–13
  • Anyone willing to learn and give umpiring a go
  • Register by Thursday 19 March

What Do I Need to Do?

Before you can be allocated Saturday games, you need to complete:

Introduction to Umpiring Workshop

You can register for the upcoming workshop when you register as a Junior Umpire.

Check with your School Netball Coordinator as your school may also be running this workshop.

Centre Theory

This is completed online through Sport Tutor. GNC staff can help you complete it if needed.

Umpire Awards

Junior Umpires can work towards the GNC Junior Umpire Award.

You can also gain the Netball NZ Silver Award by:

  • Completing the Introduction to Umpiring Workshop
  • Completing Centre Theory
  • Umpiring at least 3 games during the season

If you want to keep going with your umpiring, you can work towards the NNZ Centre Umpire Award. GNC staff can help you with what you need to do next.
