About us

The Havelock North Swimming Club is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers. Our vision is to offer affordable, high quality summer term outdoor swimming for our community’s children. It is our hope that we help children develop a life-long love for swimming.

Pool Information

We use two pools, our learners pool and the main pool.

Learner pool: we offer lessons for children from 5 years old with the aim of building water confidence. We focus on floating, submersion, kicking, freestyle, roll to breath technique, and backstroke. Sessions are divided into 2  x 25 minute time slots, based on the swimmer’s ability.

Main pool: we offer lessons for children who can already roll to breath and have a basic understanding of the swimming strokes, through to more experienced swimmers. We run both Intermediate (25 minutes) and Advanced (55 minutes) out of this pool. Sessions are divided into two 25 minute sessions or one 55 minute session (depending on level).

Swimmer Levels

Beginner one : floating front and back, kicking front and back, arm circles front and back (25 mins).

Beginner two: introduction to freestyle breathing, and backstroke (25 mins).

Intermediate one: freestyle/backstroke 15m (25 mins).

Intermediate two: freestyle/backstroke 25m, basic breaststroke kick (25 mins).

Advanced one: freestyle/backstroke 75m, breaststroke 25m (55 mins)

Advanced two: freestyle/backstroke 200m +, breaststroke 50m, butterfly kick 25m (55 mins).

Club Membership Fees

One child: $100.00

Two children $190.00

Three children $270.00

More than three children: $70.00 (per extra child).

Our sessions are kept safe under the watchful eye of lifeguards from Hastings Aquatics.

Due to this, we need to leave the pool at 7.00pm sharp.
