50KM RACE

This Kaweka Challenge run starts at the Cameron Carpark and heads up to Kuripapango and back down to the Lakes Carpark.  From there runners will follow the western track to Mackintosh Hut and then to Makahu Saddle via Matauria Ridge.  There will be an aid station and drop bags available for runners there.  Runners then head up Makahu Spur to Kaweka J and continue down the Backridge to Kiwi Mouth Hut.  From there they will head up to spot height 1238 and take the high water track to Kiwi Sadlle hut, up to Kuripapango and back down to the Cameron Carpark.

This course has 4309m of elevation from 492m to 1724 m above sea level.  This is a challenging course and runners will be required to carry compulsory safety equipment and show proof of having run the distance in similar terrain previously.

REQUIRED SAFETY GEAR

You must provide evidence of running an official trail run of 50km or more which is mostly self-supported with a large amount of elevation. This can be provided by a Strava link, a website link or similar.  No evidence of a savage run means no entry into the 50km event.
