KING COUNTRY AREA PONY CLUB

King Country Area Pony Club (KCAPC) is situated in the central North Island and boundaries Manawatu West Coast in the South, Bay of Plenty and Waikato in the North and Taranaki in the west.  KCAPC is made up of 2 Clubs– Taumarunui and Districts and Waimarino. Both Clubs are stand alone Clubs i.e. they have no Branches.

KCAPC has the least number of members of any Area in New Zealand. It has, though, had its share of successes with many ‘A’ Certificate holders, four Inter Pacific team members, and an International Games team member. Two Adult members have been Managers of overseas teams, Presidents of the NZPCA and have recently been awarded life Members of the Association. The Area also has a coach who has attained H level Equestrian Coaches Training Programme (ECTP). The Area has also had members win national dressage and eventing titles.

Areas are responsible annually for organising trials for Dressage, Eventing, Jumping (HOY), Games Final, NZPCA Games Championships (biennial) and the Inter Pacific selection (biennial). The area is also responsible for entering/training and supporting the teams to attend those Championships/Finals.

Areas host the National Championships and King Country Area has twice hosted the North Island Team Mounted Games Championships at the Waimarino A&P showgrounds and hosts the Zone 2 Games Final on rotation every 3 years.

Areas have some responsibility for Coaching and Training within the Area, ensuring the Clubs Coaches are sufficiently skilled by providing the necessary clinics and support. Likewise, riding members are moving through the certificate syllabuses and have the opportunities to attain Club and Area representation.
