Junior Cricket (for primary and pre-primary kids)

We are pleased to offer the following cricket options for primary and pre-primary kids:

For Boys and Girls

Section 1: Premier hard ball cricket. 27 over matches starting at 8.45am on Saturdays. Typically, Year 6-8 kids.

Section 2: Introduction to hard ball cricket. 20 over matches starting at 9am on Saturdays. Typically, Year 4-7 kids.

Section 3: Experienced soft ball cricket. 16 over matches starting at 9am on Saturdays. Typically, Year 2-5 kids.

Section 4: Introduction to soft ball cricket. 12 over matches starting at 9am or 11am on Saturday morning. Typically, Year 1-3 kids.

Smash Play: Introductory cricket skills sessions, approximately 45 minutes long after school on a Tuesday. Typically ages 4-6.

All cricket gear is provided by the club including a playing shirt, and a cap for new players to the club.
White shorts or cricket trousers and sports shoes are required for Sections 1-4. All teams have a training session during the week, with the day to be decided by the coach. All teams play a mixture of home and away games, with travel required for away games to grounds within the Selwyn and Banks Peninsula region. Home games are played in the Lincoln area.

As with all sport, we also need coaches! When registering your child, why not think about coaching. We offer free fees for your first registered child if you put your hand up to coach with support and training provided. For Girls Only

We are excited to be associated with the Selwyn Wahine cricket club. They have all girls’ teams playing in all girls’ competitions run by the Canterbury Junior Cricket Association. Options are available for all ages and abilities. Selwyn Wahine provide a pathway for female cricketers in Selwyn from primary through to youth (high school) and then on to senior cricket.

2025/26 Season Dates

Section 1-4: 11th October – 13th December; 31st January – 21st March

No cricket on Labour, Show or Waitangi weekends.

Smash Play: Tuesday's 4pm - 4.45pm, 4th November - 9th December (Kids who complete the Smash Play programme have the option to play in our in-house Section 4 competition in the 2nd half of the season, also on a Tuesday afternoon)​​​​​​​
