Mercy Cup Tournament 2025
Marian College hosted the annual Mercy Cup Catholic Schools sport exchange on Tuesday 10 June inviting Villa Maria College, John Paul II High School and Roncalli College.
Teams participated in Hockey, Football and Netball. It was great to host the netball here at our sport facility including 5 grades across seniors, year 9 and 10 teams. We were thankful to St Bede's College who allowed us to use the Marist Park Hockey Turf for Hockey games and their field to host the football games.
The tournament commenced with a whakatau and welcome liturgy in Te Aria. The Head Sport captains from each school were invited to speak, reflecting on the sisters of Mercy and traditions of this tournament There were some great games and close scores with the Hockey and Football games both being shared grade winners between Marian College and Villa Maria College. The Year 9 Grade Netball and Senior A Netball Grades were both won by Marian College.
A true sense of school spirit could be felt across all the participants, staff and supporters involved, what a magnificent occasion. Good luck to all teams as they continue on with their sporting seasons and buildup for Winter Sport Tournament week next term.
