PROCEDURE FOR CLUB NIGHTS

1.  Junior swimmers will commence training from 6.30pm to 7pm.  Club race night begins at 7pm to 8pm.  From 8pm to 8.30pm is Senior training.

2.  Swimmers report to the Swimming Marshall and must line up as instructed and wait their turn to swim.

3.  At the end of your race swimmers will be handed a slip of paper from the time keeper in your lane, with your name and time on it.

4.  Swimmers take this immediately to the recording table, where the Recorder will write your time on your card.

5.  Your card will be checked to see if you have improved from your previous time, if you have improved, it will be highlighted and your colour group changed if necessary.

6.  Swimmers then line up for their second and third stroke events.

The following notes have been compiled for your benefit.  They briefly outline a few important rules to ensure that swimming nights run smoothly, and detail procedures for Club Nights and our swimming programme.  Please take the time to read them:

  • Parents/Caregivers please check at the beginning of each Club Night to see if you can help with timekeeper duties.
  • A parent/caregiver adult MUST stay and supervise children. Children cannot be left unsupervised and will not be allowed to leave without an adult.
  • Users are required to take a shower prior to entering the pool.
  • ALL swimmers MUST wear appropriate swimming attire (no shorts or t shirts).
  • No swimmers in the pool until authorised.
  • There is to be no running around the pool area at any time.
  • Please listen carefully to instructions and announcements.
  • Prior to starters whistle there is to be NO MOVEMENT around the pool, and COMPLETE SILENCE is to be observed by all persons.
  • When training, swimmers are to remain in the pool until advised to clear the pool (once all other swimmers have finished within that group).
  • Keep clear of the timekeepers at all times, other than to collect their times at the end of their race.
  • Only helpers may sit on the step in the pool during the events.
  • The Club Captain is responsible for controlling all the Club Swimming events.
  • The club takes no responsibility for any children wandering outside the pool enclosure.
  • Swimmers who have had diarrhoea must not enter the water until after 2 weeks since last being ill. No open sores. If Asthma is a concern, please bring an inhaler.
  • FYI - On occasions, the water will be treated with a special dye which will both colour the water and the swimmer if they urinate in the water.
  • To qualify for end of year champs you must swim at least 4 times in each stroke. If you miss 2 or more club nights due to illness you will be given 2 weeks to make up any missed strokes needed to qualify for champs. In the event of a prolonged illness please discuss with a committee member.
  • If you can not attend, please notify the Club of your absence via the email [email protected].  Fees are non-refundable and only refundable upon the committees discretion.
