Year 9 Drama options for 2026:

On The Stage:

Together we explore the world of theatre. Learn stagecraft, develop confidence, create your own skits and characters. Explore acting techniques with a range of scripts. Practice directing skills
and/or acting for the camera. Apply production technologies (costume, makeup, props and
set) to performance and bring the page to the stage. Beginners welcome, come and have some fun!

TheatreSports 2026

Every Wednesday lunchtime in the Drama room. We develop improv skills, have fun and learn Theatresports games. Open to all. 

Drama Club

We meet every Tuesday during interval. We’re aiming to devise and /or organise for a school production for 2026. All creatives are welcome to come and have some fun!

The Otago Sheilagh Winn Shakespeare Festival 2026

Our acting ākonga presented seven well-rehearsed scenes at Nayland College on Sunday 29th March.

Congratulations to Estella Archer for winning Best Student Director (15-minute scene) AND Most Imaginative Production.  The actors in Estella’s scene: Sophie Pratt, Stevie Archer, Estella Archer, Rattantida Jantahkhat, Ella Piper, Sam Carrigg, Meg McGie, Wainui Nikora, Ari Baker, Emily Dewhurst, won the Best Example of a Team Performance.

Wainui Nikora won the Sustained Vocal Management award.  Judges feedback “Boyet was very good, clear and with great stage presence".

Jake Barnett, William Bartholomew and Mason Brenchley (supported by Tricia Frondarina) won the Best History Scene.
