BMXNZ Regulations regarding two-piece helmets and MTB Enduro style full-face helmets
All helmets must conform to the BMXNZ regulation 2.031.
MTB Enduro style lightweight helmets that are manufactured with a two or multiple-piece construction are allowed to be used for BMX racing, but MUST be designed & sold permanently fixed together. Helmets with removable chin bars are not acceptable. These types of helmets MUST also hold the BMXNZ accepted, current ASTM International Testing Standard.
As of January 2023, this is - ASTM F2032-15 BMX.
BMNXZ notes that the multi-piece MTB Enduro helmets listed below are not designed or made for BMX racing, so while meeting an international impact standard, BMXNZ do not recommend their use for BMX racing.
Multi-piece helmets known to meet the above ASTM requirements for use in BMX racing are as follows;
TroyLeeDesigns Stage Helmet
MET/Bluegrass Vangard
FOX Proframe RS (RS model only)
Hire Gear
Mountain Raiders have full face helmets and gloves available for hire at the Points Hut on race nights.
