UMPIRING

People often view umpiring as a thankless and tough task. Although it can be challenging, those who umpire thoroughly enjoy it, seeing it as an opportunity to: give back to the game, stay involved in netball, facilitate games effectively, keep fit, and umpire at the highest possible level.

Becoming an Umpire

If you are interested in umpiring, you can come to the control desk during our Saturday competition, or alternatively, contact Alison Cormack here.

Want to progress your umpiring?

The first three Awards in umpiring are composed of a theoretical and practical aspect, these are the Centre, Zone and NZ Qualifying Awards.

To be considered for a practical assessment, an umpire must first have their theory.  The link to the Learning to Umpire module is above.  Zone Theory and NZ Theory are both online, the link for these will be sent to you with the relevant information when you are eligible to sit these.

Theory dates for 2024: TBC
