KYORUGI

Kyorugi (sparring ) is an import component of Taekwondo where by two athletes will spare one another with the aim to score points. It is also an opportunity for athletes to put their training into practice (self defence also).

When sparring, both athletes will wear sparing equipment which includes, helmet, mouth guard, arm & leg guards and chest plate (Foot covers and gloves are optional.).

New Plymouth club has won the top fighting club for the last four years at North Island championships, New Plymouth Taekwondo has hosted this tournament for the past 20 years.

The International Olympic Committee recognized the WTF and taekwondo sparring in 1980.This is the only martial art in which you could represent your country at the Olympics.
