Interclub Sign In
Upon arriving at Nga Puna Wai it is important to go directly to our club tent to sign in with your manager. ALL athletes, parents and visitors MUST sign in. Athletes who fail to sign in yet come through in the recording results as being present may be asked to leave the track.
Signing in is a Health & Safety item for the CCAA and is mandatory.
Saturday Interclub Club Duties
Each club is obligated to provide parents to help with the smooth running of the events each & every Saturday. We shall run a rostered duty & you shall be notified in time to make your necessary arrangements. In the 2022/23 season our Club Duty was ‘Shot Put’ which is run by three parents as well as 1 parent for relay change 1 duty (a total of 4 parents each Saturday). Sorry but YES on your duty day there may be times you do not see your child compete.
Shot Put
This is not a difficult duty & new parents shall be paired with parents whom have run this before.
Relay Change
For every relay each Saturday a duty parent is required to officiate at baton change 1 position. Relays start at 9.00am so you must be at your position no later than 8.50am. Again this is not difficult & please ask for assistance when needed. We are all here to help & part of the NCAN family.
NOTE: a roster shall be drawn up for ALL parents and it will be YOUR responsibility to attend your rostered duty. If for some reason you cannot attend, it will be up to YOU to find an alternative person OR swap with another club parent.
Twice a season the Club is also rostered as 'Duty Club', this means the Club is responsible for the setup of athletic equipment for the day, the set up and removal of hurdles throughout the day (when required) and pack up of equipment at the end of the children's session. You shall be required to be at the ground by 7.45am and stay for pack up at the end of the session which is generally around 1.30pm.
Interclub Programme
Season programmes will be available, they list the venues and events that are on each week for each grade, as well as the rules for each event. It pays to bring a highlighter, a different colour for each of your children, and highlight what events they have available each week.
It also provides a wide range of information and rules about athletics that is useful to be aware of.
Nga Puna Wai Ground Rules
Officials & Starters Required
Every year the same (volunteer) officials attend to the running of the Saturday competition, without whom our sport would basically cease to exist. Most of the officials no longer have children competing (grand children more likely) and perform their roles for the love of the sport. We urgently need more officials to be trained up in the respective roles.
