NORTH TARANAKI INDOOR BOWLS ASSOCIATION (INC)

RULES OF PLAY FOR OPEN TOURNAMENTS

Commencing 2026 Season


All games shall be played in accordance with the Laws of the Game.

In the event of a draw in post-section, a deciding end will be played.

Penalty points will apply for late arrivals.


LADIES OPEN SINGLES:

4 games of 12 ends or 35 minutes. 

6 points or section winners qualify for post section knockout.


N.Z. MIXED FOURS (2 men and 2 women)

6 teams or less - round robin Wins, Ends, Points, if tied playoff of 5 ends

OR if more than 6 teams 4 games of 10 ends or 60 minutes.

 6 points to qualify.


N.Z. MIXED PAIRS (1 man and 1 woman)

6 teams or less - round robin of 10 ends or 45 minutes. Wins, Ends, Points, if tied playoff of 5 ends

OR if more than 6 teams 4 games of 10 ends or 45 minutes.

 6 points to qualify.


OPEN SINGLES

4 games of 12 ends or 30 minutes. 

5 points to qualify or section winners.

Commencing time 9.30am


N.T. JUNIOR OPEN SINGLES

5 games of 10 ends or 25 minutes. 

6 points to qualify.

Commencing time 7.30pm

Players must be under the age of 18 as at 31 March 2026


N.T. JUNIOR OPEN PAIRS

5 games of 8 ends or 35 minutes. 

6 points to qualify.

Commencing time 7.30pm

Players must be under the age of 18 as at 31 March 2026


KINGS BIRTHDAY TOURNAMENT – 

OPEN FOURS - 5 games of 10 ends or 50 minutes.  

 6 points to qualify or section winners.

Commencing time 9:30 am.


OPEN PAIRS - 5 games of 10 ends or 40 minutes. 

6 points to qualify or section winners.  

Commencing time 9:30 am.


 OPEN TRIPLES – 5 games of 10 ends or 40 minutes. 

 6 points to qualify or section winners. 

Commencing time 9.30am.


N.Z. JUNIOR SINGLES

Players must be under the age of 18 as at 31 March 2026

4 games of 12 ends or 30 minutes.   

6 points to qualify.

Commencing time 7.00pm.


HENSELITE CHAMPION of CHAMPION SINGLES

4 games of 15 ends or 45 minutes. 

6 points to qualify or section winners.

Commencing time 9.30am


NZ 1-5 YEAR PAIRS ZONE FINAL

Players must be Registered and have played for less than 6 years

Players can only enter in the zone for which they are eligible to play

4 games of 10 ends or 45 minutes. 6 points to qualify

6 teams or less:  Round Robin, wins, ends, points.


NZ 1-5 YEAR SINGLES ZONE FINAL

Players must be Registered and have played for less than 6 years

Players can only enter in the zone for which they are eligible to play

4 games of 12 ends or 35 minutes. 6 points to qualify

6 players or less:  Round Robin, wins, ends, points.


NZ MASTER FOURS

Players must be over the age of 60 years on 31st March 2026

6 teams or less: Round Robin, wins, ends, points. If tied, playoff 5 ends.

More than 6 teams: 4 games of 8 ends or 45 minutes.

Commencing time 9.30am




LATE APPEARANCE RULE


Any team not at their mat when the whistle goes for the commencement of any game shall be penalised as follows:


FOURS:  Two points on the board for the first five minutes or part thereof.  For each succeeding five minutes or part thereof, a further two points penalty will be applied and any team 15 minutes or more late shall be defaulted for that game.  Each five minutes deemed to be one head.


PAIRS AND TRIPLES: Two points on the board for the first four minutes or part thereof.  For each succeeding four minutes or part thereof, a further two points penalty will be applied and any team 12 minutes or more late shall be defaulted for that game.  Each four minutes deemed to be one head.


SINGLES: Two points on the board for the first three minutes or part thereof.  For each succeeding three minutes or part thereof, a further two points penalty will be applied and any team 9 minutes or more late shall be defaulted for that game.  Each three minutes deemed to be one head.


NOTICE TO ALL BOWLERS:  Players who enter into tournaments under the control of the North Taranaki Indoor Bowls Association (Inc.) are expected to play all qualifying rounds. 


RIGHT OF ENTRY IN EVENTS:  No person may enter any inter-club, inter-association, inter-centre, district or national championship or tournament unless that person is affiliated to the Federation or is a member of an overseas indoor bowls organization associated with the Federation and establishes to the satisfaction of the executive credentials relating to his or her membership.
