​​​​​​​Sight Classification categories
From time to time we are asked who can play Blind Lawn Bowls. To answer that question we have provided the following information:

For those participating in local, New Zealand, events entries may be made under the following sight categories using the Snellen chart classifications:
B1:  No light perception in either eye up to light perception but no recognition of hand movements at any distance or in any direction.
B2:  From the ability to recognize hand movements up to a visual acuity of 2/60 (Snellen).
B3:  From a visual acuity of better than 2/60 (Snellen) up to a visual acuity of 6/60.
B4:  A visual acuity of better than 6/60 (Snellen) up to a visual acuity of worse than 6/24 (Snellen) and /or a significantly reduced visual field of 20 degrees or less. The player has the option of being guided by a sighted director.

For those participating in international events entries may be made under the following sight categories using the LogMAR chart classifications:     
B1:  No light perception in either eye up to light perception but no recognition of hand movements at any distance or any direction, up to LogMAR 2.7.
B2:  From the ability to recognise hand movements (LogMAR 2.6) up to a visual acuity of LogMAR 1.5.
B3:  From a visual acuity of LogMAR 1.4 up to LogMAR 1.0.
B4:  From a visual acuity of LogMAR 0.9 up to LogMAR 0.6 and/or a visual field of less than 20 degrees.
