The Moana Cup - Celebrating Wāhine in Football across Auckland

In 2023, a brief end of season conversation with our local board member, Christine O'Brien, around celebrating our wāhine in football lead to the "The Moana Cup" being founded.

The Moana Cup is a preseason interclub tournament held at the end of March (girls and women's month) to celebrate our girls and women playing football.

Proudly supported by Māngere-Ōtāhuhu local board member, and Ōtāhuhu club patron Christine O'Brian, this tournament brings teams together from NRF Championship through to Community Division 5. This allows teams who often don't cross paths through the season to play against each other and allow everyone to connect through football.

Played at Taamaki ki Taatahi - Seaside Park, we see teams from all across Auckland participate in the action. This tournament is free to enter provides the opportunity to test players early on before the riggors of the season.

We have been fortunate to have some great partners over the past two years join us in Kiwi Bubble Football & Hunger Ball turning the tournment into more of a fun day that includes everyone who comes through on the day.
