The Otago University Rugby League Club offers a rugby league experience like no other for students in Dunedin.

Run by students for students we provide a welcoming culture for everyone. Our players describe the club as "brotherly" and our culture is renowned for its balance between work and play. We pride ourselves on not only playing hard on the field but also off the field with team nights/social events, a rookies night, court session and more. After games, we also like to head on over to The Bog for the aftermatch function where we share a few cold beverages and a bowl of hot chips.

We make ourselves accessible by having among the lowest costs for competitive sport in Dunedin, at just $60 a season to cover our main club costs. We have options for off-field kit to be purchased as well.

We are coached by club legend Ray Fitiao, who played 200 games for the club, represented Otago for a number of seasons as both a player and coach. Ray also played 20 games for the New Zealand Universities team over a number of tours and 2 Student World Cups in 1989 and 1992 and was also picked as part of the coaching staff for the 2018 tour of the UK and 2019 tour of Fiji. He has been on the scene for more than 30 years making him one of the most valuable assets to the club. Ray's passion, respect, experience and leadership all shine through in his coaching.

Our players have access to training equipment during the off season including: balls, cones, agility ladders, and more which can be used at Logan Park, the Caledonian Track and Unipol gym to stay sharp.

Pulling on the blue jersey makes you eligible for higher honours, including Otago Whalers, South Island Scorpions and New Zealand Universities, which we have had a high number of players represent these teams over the years.
