JUNIOR RUGBY PLAYING OPTIONS

PJRC offers three types of rugby: Nursery, Rippa and Tackle.

Nursery - this is aimed at pre-schoolers to help them develop rugby skills before they hit the Rippa grades in Years 1 and 2.

Rippa - this is a non-contact, easy to play version of tackle rugby. It's fun for everyone with plenty of tries! It promotes excellent ball handling and running skills, and with rip belts around the waist. It introduces players to where they should be aiming to tackle should they choose to play that type of rugby in future.

Rippa caters to all ages. Rippa games are played on Saturday mornings for Y1 and Y2 and on Friday Nights for all other grades.

Tackle - this is what the Black Ferns and All Blacks play! For juniors, the rules are adjusted at different grades to maximise player safety and optimise skills development.

Tackle is offered from Year 3 up and is played on Saturday mornings.
