FAQs

What period does my membership cover?

Membership is divided into two six-month periods, January to June, and July to December.

Do I need to complete new forms for each membership period?

You need to renew your membership at the end of each period by signing the forms and paying the sub.  We are required to have your info for each membership period (even if you have supplied it to us before) to comply with the insurance requirements for NZ Riding Clubs.

What are my membership options?

You can sign up in one of the following ways:

- as a non riding member for $10 – this signs you up to our mailing list, gets you invites to our social events and other activities.  You also get voting rights at our AGM.  A great option for our supporters who want to stay informed about club activities.

- as a limited member for $60 – this entitles you to four uses of the arena at any time within the 6-month membership period.

- as a casual member for $20 (for one use).  Note that you need to be accompanied by a monthly or full member.

- as a full member for $120 – you can use the arena throughout each six month period.  A great value option for high use riders who want to use the arena often.

Where do I join?!
Just complete the one simple form under our Membership Info & Forms page, and specify in the form what membership option you’ve decided to go with.  If you have any questions or get stuck, email pauatahanuiequestrianclub@gmail.com for help.

I signed up as a limited member, but I want to use the arena more than four times.  What can I do?
You can upgrade your limited membership to a full membership.  Deposit a further $60.00 and email the Club to update your details.

I want to use the arena this afternoon – can I sign up now?
It can take us up to three (3) working days to process your membership – you can email pauatahanuiequestrianclub@gmail.com to request urgent processing, (or call Janet on 0272668810) but we may not be able to accommodate this.  We will do our best!

My coach / riding instructor / friend / family member isn’t a full or limited member – can they have a sit on my horse during a lesson / riding session at the arena?
This may sound pedantic, but no.  Your membership provides public liability insurance for both you and the club, without this insurance both you and the club are not protected if anything goes wrong.  If you do allow someone to ride your horse that isn’t a member, you and that person own the risk – that means, they (and possibly you) are personally liable for any injury or damage to the public, property or our facilities.  You may also be liable for any damage, be found in breach of the rules and your membership may be affected.
Coaches and riding instructors that do want to have a sit on their student’s horses from time to time should contact us on pauatahanuiequestrianclub@gmail.com and we can inform you of our insurance policy.

I want to hold a clinic – what do I do?
Great!  Email the secretary at pauatahanuiequestrianclub@gmail.com to apply to hold a clinic or for more information.

I am trialing a horse and just want to use the arena as a one-off, is this possible?
We acknowledge that there may be occasions where a rider may want to use the arena as a one-off, such as trialing a horse, saddle fitting or vet checks.  We prefer people to join, but in limited circumstances, you can request one-off use by emailing pauatahanuiequestrianclub@gmail.com.  However, another member will need to be there to supervise you when you ride.

Drop us a line at pauatahanuiequestrianclub@gmail.com if your question isn’t covered here or you’d like more information.
