WELCOME TO THE

QUEENSTOWN JUNIOR BASKETBALL CLUB

Kia ora and welcome to Queenstown Junior Basketball Club! QJBC is a social basketball league for tamariki and rangatahi in the Wakatipu Basin, designed to encourage participation, skill development, and a love for the game. Whether you're new to basketball or have years of experience, we provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

Our focus is on fostering teamwork, fair play, and enjoyment, ensuring that every player has the opportunity to develop their skills while having fun on the court. Our club is proudly run by volunteers, and we appreciate the dedication of those who make QJBC possible each season.

2026 Season/Games are on until 14 August 2026. To see the Draws for this week & the rest of the season, click here.

At QJBC, we believe basketball should be accessible to all. If you are experiencing financial hardship or require a payment plan, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our treasurer for support. We are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate, regardless of circumstances.

Volunteering at QJBC

QJBC relies on volunteers to create a great experience for our young players. Every parent is encouraged to contribute at least twice during the season by helping with simple but essential tasks such as scoring, or providing bench support. Additional roles include supporting coaches as team managers, refereeing games and assisting with floor control to ensure sessions run smoothly.

For these specific roles below, volunteers need to commit for the whole season, or the whole year for committee members. If volunteers can't do the assigned time, they are responsible to swap or find replacement. To recognise the contribution of these volunteers, we offer 100% discount on the volunteer's child registration. Please note: we will take volunteers on the basis first in first taken. If we have enough volunteers, then unfortunately there will be no more discount offered. We will let you know & send the registration invoice to pay.

  • Parent Coaches: take on a team for the whole season, responsible to find replacement or swap with other coaches when not available at times. No experience necessary, training will be provided.

  • Parent Referees: commit for the whole season, responsible to find replacement or swap when not available at times. Some experience preferred but training will be provided.

  • Parent Floor Controllers: make sure the games run smooth, keep the sessions in order, everyone in the courts following code of conducts. Commit for the whole season, responsible to find replacement or swap when not available at times. List of tasks will be provided, no basketball experience needed.

  • Committee members: attend & contribute at the committee meetings, take up committee tasks, commit for the whole year.

Youth & non-parent volunteers: coaches and referees - receive a Koha/donation for their service to QJBC at prizegiving. Youth & non-parent volunteer will need to register here.

Coaching and refereeing training is provided and no prior experience is necessary! Learn more about volunteering here, and if you're not a parent, please fill in our volunteer registration form.

Thank you for being part of QJBC. We can’t wait to see you on the court!

Ngā mihi nui,

Pierre Poyet & Shaun Campbell
