International learners

Introduction

Rolleston College is an innovative, future-focused secondary school situated in the rapidly growing town of Rolleston. While our school buildings provide a very modern and flexible learning environment, the real strength of the College is the learning opportunities that are offered within our building.

As a College, we place a great deal of importance on developing the whole child and provide an education that combines academic studies with an awareness of wellbeing and personal growth.

Our International Learner Programme is critical to growth as it provides opportunities for students and staff from different cultures to work alongside each other in teaching and learning, offering different perspectives and insight that develop an understanding of each other’s cultures. Our goal is for all our students to become connected global citizens, ready to live and work in the diverse and connected modern world. Fostering international cooperation and relationships now and in the future.

We aim to provide international learners with the same opportunities as our local learners have. Offering a wide range of academic, sporting and cultural opportunities we want to make our International Learners experience here rewarding, fun and inspiring as we help you to become the very best person you can be.

Why Rolleston?

Friendly and welcoming, Canterbury is a natural playground full of opportunities, unique experiences and a gateway for visiting the South Island of New Zealand! With its vast landscape, Canterbury and the Selwyn District provides many great things to see and do. Whether it’s the local farmers market, a high-country adventure, getting into the outdoors on one of our many walking or biking tracks or experiencing our local food there is something to keep the whole family, you and or visiting friends entertained.

Ideally located alongside State Highway 1, just 15 minutes south-west of Christchurch, it’s not surprising Rolleston has become an incredibly popular place to live and work. The largest town in the Selwyn district of Canterbury and with its ever-expanding population, our town provides easy access to supermarkets, medical centres, pharmacies, other health care providers, primary and secondary schools and early childhood education centres.

Our local community centre and library have a huge range of community activities, and many clubs base themselves here. Our newly developed Foster Park alongside other parks in the area provide an abundance of recreational activities, playgrounds as well as sports fields which come alive on a Saturday morning.
