Our Programme

Welcome to Rosmini College Athletics! While we do not operate a dedicated on-site track and field training squad, our athletes thrive by training and competing alongside top local clubs, including North Harbour Bays and Takapuna Athletics Clubs.

Throughout the school year, student-athletes across all year levels have clear pathways to represent Rosmini and compete at regional and national levels:

• Term 1 Athletics Day (Years 7–13): Held on campus, this event serves as the primary qualifier where top Year 9–13 performers are selected to represent Rosmini at the North Harbour Athletics Champs. Strong performances here open doors to the Auckland Athletics Champs and selection for the North Harbour team competing at the North Island Secondary School Champs.

• Term 4 Athletics Day (Years 7–10): A dedicated event for our junior school, where top Year 7 and 8 sprinters are selected to showcase their speed at the Intermediate Zone Champs.

• NZSS Track & Field Champs: Held annually in December, providing our top Year 9–13 athletes the ultimate stage to test their skills against the best secondary school talent in New Zealand.

Whether you are aiming for regional podiums or taking your first steps on the track, Rosmini provides the pathway to support your athletic journey.

North Harbour Athletics Championships

North Island Secondary School Championships

Saturday 28th - Sunday 29th March 2026
Bruce Pulman Park, Papakura
You must be selected from the NHSS Champs into the North Harbour Team to compete at this event. You represent North Harbour, not Rosmini.

NZ Secondary Schools Track & Field Championships

Dates: Friday 11th December pm; Saturday 12th December am and pm
Venue: Track and Field Cooks Gardens, Whanganui

Road Race: Sunday 13th December am and pm held at Whanganui Collegiate School.

Entries open: Monday 12 October
Entries close: midnight Monday 23rd November

Age Groups:

• All athletes must have turned 13 prior to 31 December 2026 (born 2013 or earlier)
• Junior - Under 16 as at 31 December 2026 (born in 2011, 2012)
• Senior - Under 20 as at 31 December 2026 (born in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010)

• Road Race - There are three grades in the junior race: Under 14, Under 15, Under 16, on 31 December 2026.
• There are two grades in the senior race: Under 17, Under 20, on 31 December 2026.
• Team races for 3 and 6 to score in the combined junior grades and the combined senior grades
  

Entry Fees:
$55.00 School Affiliation Fee
Per athlete for track and field and/or road race are as follows:

• $40.00 - one or two events (including the road race)
• $55.00 - three or more events
• $15.00 - relay only competitors
  

Note: on top of this will be accommodation, transport & food costs at the athletes own expense. Parents will be expected to coordinate these bookings/costs for their own son.
