Hockey - Terms 2 and 3
Summary: Over the Winter terms (2 and 3) we enter a 1st XI team and 2nd XI team if we have the numbers. Games are played at the Hockey Turf at Park Island in Napier.
Logistics: Depending on availability, transport may be arranged for students via staff in private vehicles and/or school minibuses if possible. In most cases, students are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from practices and games.

Coaches: 1st XI - Jody Dallas and Colm Stevens (Assistant)
2nd XI - Brett Pretorius
Match times: Various – playing at Park Island, Napier or Unison Turf, Hastings Sports Park
Start Date: Div 1 & 2 start Thursday 11th May with finals on Thursday 17th August.
Div 3 & 4 start Monday 8th May with finals on Monday 21st August.
13 week competition for both grades.
Practices: Tuesdays 7-8am fitness training at school in the gym/turf and Wednesdays 7-8am at Park Island.
Games: Games are played on different day's depending on the grade’s teams are entered in to:
Div 1 & 2 – Thursdays
Div 3 & 4 – Mondays
Uniform: Hockey uniforms are issued to teams. These must be returned to the Sports Department at the end of each season. It is expected that all girls wear their school sports hoodie or school jacket and own black sports trackpants to and from games. Students in the 1st XI will be issued a school tracksuit for the season. For warmth, players can wear a white, maroon, or black under-layer underneath their playing top/dress. Black hockey socks are to be worn. Shinguards and mouthguard are compulsory.
Equipment: All girls are expected to have their own hockey sticks, mouthguards, shinguards, and sport/turf shoes.
Sports Draw: All games details are available via the Hawke’s Bay Hockey website click here and we have a school sports draw with all game details which is updated weekly and is available on our school sport Facebook page, school sport website and school app. It is also put in the school notices and on the notice board in the gym foyer.
Club Teams: If your daughter wants to play for a local club she must be playing firstly for a SHC school team. Your daughter also has to get dispensation from the Principal.
