SOUTH ISLAND SECONDARY SCHOOL JUNIOR NETBALL TOURNAMENT
SISS Junior Netball Tournament has been held in Christchurch for 26 years.
It has become an important pathway for players, coaches and umpires to develop and improve their skills and abilities.
The group of enthusiastic school team coaches attending a netball coaching seminar some years ago are to be congratulated that they had the foresight and drive to set up what was a regional Year 9 and Year 10 tournament to give your players the opportunity to experience tournament participation. This fledgling tournament grew in just 3 years to become South Island wide and is now a very important part of the calendar of tournaments available for our younger players.
This tournament is about teams and teamwork, and the experience and opportunity to participate in a tournament such as this at a young age.
The tournament is also encouraging younger coaches to be involved and they are supported by adults and/or mentors. It is an opportunity for the development of student umpires at all levels too.
