Senior Competition structure
● The format, structure, and rules/requirements for all SWP competitions will be determined by SWP each year.
● Games are played in line with Fina Rules
● Teams consist of 7 players (6 Field Players, 1 Goalie).
● Each registered team must have a minimum of 8 players, and a maximum of 14 players
● Games are played in the Deep End of the Main Pool
● There is no Shot Clock in the School Competition
● Every Team MUST have an adult on the bench poolside. A STUDENT Coach must be accompanied by an adult for Health & Safety Reasons. Failure to do so will result in your team defaulting and a fine of $100.
● There will be one round, and some teams may play a team twice depending on the number of teams entered.
● Assuming an even number of teams entered, every Team will play in Semi Finals week. Should there be an odd number of teams, the lowest ranked team will not play Semi Finals week.
● Semi Finals will be scheduled based on a points system (3-Win, 1-Draw, 0-Loss), with the top ranked team playing the fourth ranked team (SF1), second ranked team playing the third ranked team (SF2), remaining teams playing in rank (SF3+)
● Finals will be winner of SF1 vs winner of SF2 playing for 1st & 2nd, loser of SF1 vs loser of SF2 playing for 3rd & 4th
● All teams will be required to do Table Duty – this will be noted on the weekly draw. Failure to complete Table Duty will result in a $50 fine to the School the team is registered to.
Year 7-8 specific
● Must be in years 7 or 8 at school or equivalent.
● Games are 9 minute halves.
Year 9-13 specific
● Players must be in Years 9-13 at School or equivalent
● Games are 4 x 7minute quarters
● If multiple teams from a single school are entered in this section, the teams must be graded by the School in the Registration Email
● Players can only be registered to one team.
● Players who are registered in the higher graded team cannot play in lower graded teams. Failure to abide by this rule, will result in the team that the player has played lower for, being defaulted for that game.
● Players may play in a higher graded team. However, they must not replace anamed player in the team i.e. a named player cannot sit on the bench, whilst a player from a lower team plays in their place. Named players must play before any player pulled up is used. Players can only play up for a maximum of 3 games – any further games will result in the player being regraded to the higher team.
SWP relies on the goodwill of Team Coaches and Game Officials to manage this. If a player plays 3 games up in one year (Term 1 & Term 4), and requires regrading to a higher team, please advise the SWP representative on duty
● For Semi Finals and Finals – requests for players to play in a higher team, must be submitted to SWP at least 24 hours prior to games commencing for SWP approval. Team Lists will be required for SF 1 & 2 and both Finals, and will be checked against Team Registrations.
