Codes of Conduct & Child Protection Policy
The Southland Water Polo Club has approved the following policies to protect children and set behaviour standards for coaches, players, parents & spectators.
• The SWP Club has adopted the New Zealand Water Polo (NZWP) Child ProtectionPolicy. The policy "reinforces its commitment to providing an environment for children that is safe, free from harassment and abuse, and promotes respectful and positive behaviour and values." Children are defined as those under the age of 18.
• All Club players must abide by the SWP Code of Conduct for Players at both trainings and games.
• All Club players must abide by the NZWP Code of Conduct for Players when attending NZWP events. It covers issues such as playing by the rules, not arguing with officials, treating other players as they like to be treated themselves, and similar issues.
• All Club coaches and managers must abide by the SWP Code of Conduct for Coaches & Managers at both training and games.
• All Club coaches must abide by the NZWP Code of Conduct for Coaches when attending NZWP events. It covers operating within the rules and spirit of the game, treatment of players, ongoing development, and related issues.
• All Club coaches and managers will be Police Checked every three years. Refusal to be police checked will result in the removal of the ability to coach or manage any teams at Southland Water Polo.
• Southland Water Polo is committed to creating a positive and enjoyable environment for all participants, including players, coaches, officials, and spectators. As parents and spectators, your conduct plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and spirit of the sport.
