Southland Water Polo Code of Conduct for Players

General Expectations:

As a member of Southland Water Polo, I understand and agree to abide by the following code ofconduct:

1. Play by the Rules: I will adhere to the established rules and regulations during practices,competitions, and all team-related activities.

2. Compliance and Respect: I will comply with reasonable requests from coaches andmanagement, maintaining a positive attitude and refraining from disruptive behaviour. I willoffer an honest effort during training and competitions.

3. Respect and Sportsmanship: I will display respect and sportsmanship towards coaches,teammates, officials, and the public. I will avoid any behaviour that could discredit orembarrass the team and club.

4. Appropriate Conduct: I will refrain from using inappropriate language, gestures, orengaging in any form of harassment, both verbally and physically, towards others.

5. Online Behaviour: I will abstain from engaging in any inappropriate acts, including onsocial media, aimed at causing injury or embarrassment to another player.

6. Respect for Property: I will respect other people's possessions and refrain from activitiesthat cause damage to property.

7. Health and Safety: I will abstain from alcohol, tobacco, vaping, and non-medical drug use.I will adhere to pool and facility rules during practices and competitions.

8. Responsibility and Accountability: I understand that the coach and team managerdetermine acceptable behaviour. Any complaints against players will be handled by theSouthland Water Polo Club Conduct Sub-committee.

Maintaining Dignity and Wellbeing:

• Demonstrating respect regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, religion, ordisability.

• Upholding sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and ensuring participant safety and wellbeing.

Specific Expectations:

• Sportsmanship Standards: Demonstrating good sportsmanship and avoiding hazing,abuse, provocative language, or criticism towards others at Water Polo events.

• Violent Behaviour: Refraining from acts with the intent of causing injury to another player.

• Substance Abuse: Adhering to anti-doping regulations and refraining from alcohol or druguse in violation of local or national laws.

Personal Commitment as a Player:

I acknowledge and commit to the following:

• Playing by the rules and avoiding arguments with officials.

• Controlling my temper and respecting opponents.

• Cooperating with coaches, teammates, and opponents.

• Displaying grace in both victory and defeat.

• Respecting all participants and complying with anti-doping policies.

Consequences of Misbehaviour:

• In the case of non-compliance or serious misbehaviour, consequences may include but notlimited to suspension, loss of privileges, or disciplinary actions by the Southland Water PoloBoard.

Acknowledgment:

I have read and understood the Southland Water Polo Code of Conduct, accepting the terms andconditions outlined. I acknowledge that participation is at my own risk, releasing the teammanagement and Water Polo Southland from accountability in case of accidents or injuries.
