Community Pools

Why make a big splash about community pools?

Southland has a lot of community-owned swimming pools.

While these pools are a fantastic asset for their respective communities, they can also present a range of challenges including ongoing maintenance and long-term sustainability.

Active Southland is facilitating the creation of a Southland Community Pool Network which will support the people (usually volunteers) charged with ensuring the ongoing running of these swimming pools.

If you would like to find out more about the network, email Active Southland Spaces and Places Lead Tim Fletcher.

Below is a set of documents to help with the planning and compliance faced with running a pool. These have been supplied by Martin MacKereth or Steve Cook from Gore Aquatics and Splash Palace respectively.

Please remember there is a Facebook group that shares information about the pool network in Southland,. It can be found here
