Senior Interclub Team Managers

Thanks for taking on a team.

Senior interclub wouldn’t happen without someone keeping each team organised, so thanks for putting your hand up.

The role is pretty straightforward. Keep everyone informed, organise your team each week and help make sure match days run smoothly.

Before the season

At the start of the season, make sure you have:

  • the competition draw and current rules
  • contact details for everyone in your team
  • contact details for the other team managers
  • any information from the club about the season

Set up a group chat for your team using Messenger, WhatsApp or group text. Whatever works best for your players.

Share the draw and any important competition information with everyone.

If your team has more players than needed each week, agree on a fair rotation.

During the week

Touch base with your team early enough to confirm who’s available to play.

Before each match, send everyone the important details including:

  • who you’re playing
  • whether you’re home or away
  • start and arrival time
  • who’s playing that week
  • any other arrangements players need to know

If someone becomes unavailable, have them organise a replacement as early as possible.

Home matches

  • When you’re playing at Springston, make contact with the visiting team manager and help get everyone underway.
  • Make sure the clubrooms are open and the courts are ready for play.
  • Organise any refreshments or other home-team responsibilities required for your competition.
  • Then get out there and play some tennis!

Results

  • After the match, make sure the results are recorded correctly and submitted through the required system or returned to the appropriate person.
  • It’s worth checking everything before players disappear. Chasing scores afterwards isn’t much fun!

Senior interclub is competitive, but it’s also social.
