STOKE BOWLS 

The Stoke Bowling Club was founded in 1949 and has become a valuable recreational, social and sporting organisation in Nelson. Our Club is situated at 18A Ranui Road, Stoke and is at the back of Stoke Primary School, Main Road, Stoke. The Club has in excess of 100 members however is always looking for new members of all ages to join its ranks. This can be as a Full, Limited, Student, Social Playing or a Social Non Playing member.

We have 2 natural greens which are considered to be the best in Nelson. The Club is a member of Clubs New Zealand with our members enjoying visiting privileges to approximately 300 clubs around the country. The Club has excellent facilities which are available for hire for corporate and private functions and this can include playing bowls. 

If you would like to try your hand at the game of bowls come along during the season (there is usually somebody around the Club most days) or call us on +64 3 5477440. You can be sure to receive a warm welcome. Friday Mufti is played most Fridays and is a good way to learn to play bowls in a relaxed atmosphere. have your name in by 12.45pm for a 1.00pm start. There is a small charge for participation. After you have participated in the Friday Mufti why not stay on at the Club.

Various activities are held on a Friday night including Corner to Corner, quizzes, nibbles to eat and other activities from time to time. It is also a great way to meet other Club members.

Any Spare Hands Tomorrow

If any one can give Lindsay a hand to load the trailer to dispose of the two fridges and the old TV plus any thing else deem surplus or of no use, plus to putting away the covers we have been using for protecting the Wadsworth green surrounds while they have been given a makeover. They are looking great thanks to Dave Thomason for his trade painting skills, and a shout out to Resene Paints at Richmond who have donated and discounted the products we needed to complete this task. We will look at doing the Carter surrounds in the spring.

Euchre Cards

Lesley Morris has advised that cards will commence Tuesday 12th May at 1.00pm for a 1.30pm start. $ 5.00 entry fee which includes afternoon tea.
