Takaka Athletics

The individual achievement and improvement of each child is recognised using a national  5 star award system. From level 1 (achieving) to level 5 (exceptional). Levels of achievement are set for each discipline based on age and gender.

Results and personal bests are recorded each week and athletes are able to view their progress throughout the season. Athletes can also keep a personal record using this book.

The overall aim of the scheme is to encourage children to work on improving their personal bests. It also encourages athletes to take part in a wide range of events and to spread recognition for achievement over all club members – not only the winners or better athletes. Children vary in their physical and mental development and encouraging a wide range of events allows children to explore their growing and changing strengths.

We encourage athletes to praise each others successes.

The 5 star tables are included in this booklet, and there is plenty of space to record progress.

Grades five and six compete at the grade seven level.

Grade 15’s do not have a level under the  ANZ five star system, the club created one in keeping with ANZ award levels.
