Takaka Athletics

TAKAKA ATHLETICS CODE OF CONDUCT

Takaka Athletics is entirely volunteer-run and relies heavily on the support of parents. Our Committee and coaches are fellow parents and volunteers committed to ensuring that children have a great time participating in athletics. We promote participation among athletes of all skill levels and emphasize the importance of achieving personal bests.

We expect all parents and caregivers to pitch in during club nights and interclub events, as your assistance is vital for the success of our club. It's important for parents and caregivers to know that we do not take roll call. We understand that it may not be possible for everyone to attend every night, but if you are viewing the club solely as a babysitting service, you will find our president has put you onto a roster.

Getting involved lets you see your child's progress and understand the techniques used. Simple volunteer tasks include raking the long jump pit, timing, holding measuring tapes, cooking the sausages, or helping with the younger children. Your support is essential for running an effective program that tracks your child's achievements. Thank you for your cooperation!

Behavior

The purpose of the club night is to create a friendly environment for coaching and training. It's essential to emphasize that bullying in any form is strictly not tolerated. Athletes are expected to listen, follow instructions, and show respect toward coaches and volunteers. Fair play towards fellow athletes is expected at all times!

Additionally, athletes must refrain from any behavior that could endanger others or damage the club's reputation. In the event of misbehavior, children will receive a warning. However, repeated misconduct or dangerous actions could result in suspension from athletics.

Safety

We take safety seriously, but sometimes accidents can happen. Takaka Athletics does not accept responsibility for any accidents, injuries sustained, loss, or damage to person or property.

Personal Gear

Mobile phones must be left in their bags by the desk. Athletes should be ready to begin training wearing appropriate clothing (no crocs) for training 10 minutes prior to scheduled start.

Equipment

All equipment must be used in the correct manner, especially the Shot Puts and Discus. Parental supervision of both Shot Put & Discus is needed at all times. Caregivers will be asked to cover the cost of replacing club uniform or equipment if damaged or lost.
