The 5km Series is run fortnightly on a Wednesday from late January to late March each year and caters for runners, walkers and children with a special Kids Dash for school children starting out in running.

Start and Finish at Wharewaka Point:
6.00pm start Mass start with walkers behind runners

6.05pm Kids Dash.

Registration:
5.30pm at the Harrier's caravan.

Entry Fees:
5k per night : $5 per race 
5k series entry: $20 (27 Jan to 9 Mar only)

Family Discount: Parents enter 5k, kids 5k entry half price.

Kids Dash (1500m): $2.00

Series Entry - enter the series with one entry form, collect your number from the board on the following nights.

Age Restrictions:
5k - Intermediate school children and above (Years 7 & 8)
Kids Dash - Primary or Intermediacte school children (up to Year 8)

NB: Children under 11yrs MUST have an adult BESIDE them if entering the 5k.

Courses:
5k: Out and back loop along the Great Lake Pathway / Lions Walk to 2 Mile Bay.
Kids Dash: 2 laps around Wharewaka Point (1500m).

Series Points:
To qualiify for series point any three of the first four races must be completed.

Schools Participation Competition:
Children register for your school when entering the 5k or Kids Dash (1500m). The three schools with the most participation in each distance over the first 4 nights receive sports grants up to $300 sponsored by Taupo Half Marathon Society.

Schools must have a minimum of 4 students entering each night for points to count.

Final Night / Prizegiving:-
Fun night.
Prizegiving held on the domain at 7.15pm
