SPORTS AWARDS

The Tawa College annual Sports Prize Giving is held late in Term 3 or early in Term 4 in our school hall.  This event recognises outstanding success and excellence in sport across our Junior and Senior students.  

Nominations for Sports Awards can be completed at anytime during the year by clicking on the APPLY HERE button.  It is important you complete this form so the Sports Office is aware of your achievements and can acknowledge them accordingly.

Information on the award categories are as follows:

Awards are given for:

Code Specific Sportsperson of the Year - this is given to Junior and Senior Sportswoman and Sportsman (where applicable)

High Achieving Team Awards - Awarded to teams who have won their competition grade (criteria applicable); have finished 1st or 2nd at a Regional tournament; have finished top 4 at a National tournament.

Service Awards - These will be presented to Year 13 students who have given outstanding service to sport in the year of presentation and prior. Outstanding service could include Captaincy, Coaching, Officiating, Organisation and Service to their team. 

Honours Awards - Awarded to students who have achieved under the following criteria:
•    Have achieved highly in their individual or team sport at any age group Regional level.

•    Have made age group Representative Teams  

Premier National Honours Awards - Awarded to students who have achieved under the following criteria:
•    Member of an Open Womens or Mens Regional Team 
•    Is a member of a National Team
•    Is a member of a team which has won a National Title
•    Outstanding performance at National Level


All Rounder of the Year - Highest achievers in three or more sports, including a minimum of one team sport.  Awarded to Junior and Senior Sportswoman and Sportsman (where applicable)


Sportsman and Sportswoman of the YearHas represented New Zealand at age grade or Open Womens or Mens level
