TEAM PLACEMENTS

When will teams be announced?

Teams will be announced no later than 12 October. Your team manager and/or a member of the Te Ao KITA Ohu will contact you directly.

How are team placements decided?

Our coaches carefully consider each tamaiti’s age, skills, confidence, development needs, attitude and commitment.

Every team is equally important. Our goal is to place each tamaiti in the team and tournament pathway that will give them the best possible experience.

How will I know which team my tamaiti is in?

Once teams have been confirmed, a team manager or member of the Te Ao KITA Ohu will contact you directly with your tamaiti’s team details.

Are team placement decisions final?

We ask whānau to respect the decisions made by our coaches, and confirmed placements will be final.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with your Coach. We are happy to explain the process and talk through any concerns.

Can tamariki move between teams?

We will try to minimise movement so there is as little disruption as possible for our tamariki and their teams.

However, if commitment levels drop within a Māori Nationals team, coaches may need to review placements and make changes.

How will I know if my tamaiti is going to Māori Nationals?

Being placed in a Māori Nationals team confirms that your tamaiti is on the pathway to represent Te Ao KITA in Whangārei.

Continued selection will require the expected level of attendance, attitude, effort and commitment throughout the season.
