TOURNAMENTS

Which tournament will my tamaiti attend?

There are two team pathways:

  1. Teams representing Te Ao KITA at a local or regional tournament. Options may include Rowdy’s, a Te Tai Tokerau tournament or another tournament that supports the team’s development.
  2. Teams representing Te Ao KITA at the Māori Tamariki Touch Tournament in Whangārei.

Our coaches are working to select the most suitable tournament pathway for each team. Some tournaments may require travel outside Tāmaki Makaurau.

Your team manager will confirm your tamaiti’s tournament once teams and tournament details have been finalised.

When is the Māori Tamariki Touch Tournament?

The tournament will be held on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January 2027 at Kensington Sports Park, Whangārei.

Do parents need to travel with their tamariki?

Te Ao KITA will select kaitiaki to support our tamariki travelling to Māori Nationals.

Full travel, accommodation, supervision and whānau information will be provided separately to the relevant teams.

When is the Pakeke Touch Tournament?

The tournament will be held on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December 2026 at Rotorua International Stadium, Rotorua.

How much will tournaments cost?

Costs will depend on the tournament your tamaiti attends. Each team will receive confirmed information about tournament fees, travel and any fundraising requirements.

Māori Nationals is expected to cost approximately $350-$450 per person, along with participation in one group fundraiser. Te Ao KITA is working to subsidise costs and reduce the financial impact on whānau.

If cost is a barrier, please contact us. We want to support our tamariki to participate wherever possible.
