Forewarned: If you are coming to Malaysia for the first time, please be prepared for the Culture Shock. It is quite normal for everyone to talk to you at the same time before you have the chance to reply. And it is not unusual for you to be interrupted by others as well as the person you are talking to while you are in the midst of your talk. At times, the conversation topic can change unexpectedly. It could be a habitual behaviour. Sometimes you wonder if they are listening to what you say. They talk for the sake of talking. The Malaysian English accent, grammar, talking excitingly fast with hand gestures and a fusion of Bahasa, Chinese and English in a conversation can be quite daunting. I do wonder sometimes whether their brain can keep up with their mouth. Malaysians do get overly enthusiastic about their chat and the food. Food is something that you cannot escape from in Malaysia. It's Everywhere. Eating wherever whenever is a way of Life.
Surviving the Day: Be mindful of the people and the situation around you. Pick up the habit of exchanging pleasantries. A simple courtesy can have a lasting impression. Be genuine with your eye contact and conversation. It makes the other person feels special and you to be appreciated. Show your social grace and you might end up exchanging FB, Instagram, Whatsapp. By the way, part of the Malay culture is that when people offer you food, it is polite of you not to decline. Your left hand should never be used to handle food under any circumstances. If the food is that delicious and you need a little bit more, the etiquette is to leave some food on your plate before you top up. If there is a couple pieces left on the dish plate, do not take the last piece. Both remaining pieces are to be taken simultaneously by you and the person before you. Every grain of rice is sacred hence, you should only scoop enough rice that you can consume. If you are invited to dinner, do bring "buah tangan" - a gift of fruits or sweeties. That's the Malaysian Way. Do be open-minded.

Current Frame Scoring System
In the Current Frame Scoring system, a strike counts as an automatic 30 points,  a spare counts for 10, plus the first-ball count in the current completed frame. It doesn’t matter what you knock down in frame number 2, and an open frame counts for actual pins knocked down. There is no “third ball” to roll in the 10th frame, nor are there any extra balls to roll in the 10th frame because your score is an immediate score. A strike in the 10th frame, it’s simply an automatic 30 points in frame number 10, so with this new scoring method, you don't need to bowl ball 11th and 12th, a 300 game is still possible, but only 10 strikes score the perfect game. The same applies to the Spare on the 10th frame. Hence, the 10th frame counts the same as all other frames. The maximum score for a perfect game is still 300.
Standard Scoring System is when you bowl a strike in a frame, the score for that frame is always 10 plus the next two balls rolled, a spare in a frame, the score for that frame is always 10 plus the next ball rolled.

Bowls is one of the few sports that crosses age and gender barriers, allowing men and women of different ages to compete with and against each other.  Only in bowls could a school student team up with a retiree (and 1990 Commonwealth Games medal winner) to win the Wellington mixed pairs title as Euan Wong (18) and Judy Howat (76) did in 2011!

The ETIAS is for a short term stay of up to 90 days (within any 180-day period) with multiple-entry authorisations valid for 3 consecutive years. ETIAS is designed to pre-screen visa-exempt travellers. It is not a substitute for a student or working visa. You will need to apply for a different visa. The ETIAS initiative is to determine if your entry into the Schengen area would pose any security, health or migration risks. It is advisable that you can provide proof of sufficient funds and an acknowledgement of an official current residential address at passport control check. Cost is Euro 7 per individual traveller. Hence if you are travelling internationally, airlines is liable for payment based on "Special Drawing Right" ie SDR is an international currency value set by IMF. There is a limit per individual.
I have had a personal experience when I flew from NZ to KL via a stopover for a couple of days in Melbourne. On leaving Melbourne for KL my checked-in luggage was not there on arrival at KLIA. I lodged a claim. I request from the airline an overnight kit and instruction to claim an allowance for reasonable expenses. Keep all your receipts. The following day I proceeded to the airline carrier's head office to claim for the daily inconvenienced allowance. Eventually, my missing luggage was delivered to me at the KLIA expense, a couple of days later, although opened, but nothing missing. For your curiosity, it went to Heathrow Airport, London. Error from the Melbourne Airport ground crew.
Latest incident: June 2023 I flew Qantas Wellington-Sydney-Singapore-KL. On arrival at KLIA my luggage was missing. I lodged a report (showing the KLIA Officer the pictures of my luggage bag with the checked-in destination airport tag sticker on) and it was delivered to my hotel the following afternoon, free of charge. The checked-in luggage did not get on the plane from my transit in Singapore to Kl. Error from the Changi Airport ground crew.
As a precaution, I always have my email and mobile contact labelled inside my luggage as well. For privacy reason, I do not include my home address on my label. I do take photos of my luggage at the airport weighing scale on my mobile and also post it to my cloud. Nowadays. I always pack a day's clothing in my carry-on luggage. You never know what the future lies.
E-Hailing at KLIA and KLIA2 - Effectively as at Oct 12th, the new designated pickup point for e-hailing services will no longer be at the Arrival Level. The new level is at:

KLIA Main Terminal Building - Level 1 - Door 3 & 4
KLIA2 - Transportation HUB - Level 1 - Door 5
Warnings - Drivers have 5 minutes to pick up passengers. The penalty of RM$10 per 5 minutes cumulative for exceeding the period. Please assure that your luggage and bowling equipment is at the curbside before your pickup vehicle arrived. It will be helpful if you e-hail when you are at the designated pickup point. It is not advisable to txt the apps for an e-hail driver as your luggage might take longer to retrieve than expected. Also if you are new to the airport, it will take about 20 minutes to find your way from your Arrival Level to the new Pickup Level. Both are on a different level.
