PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

New Zealand Māori Hockey Eligibility Rules

  • This is a senior tournament for independent players - R16.
  • TWP players must fund their own transport and accommodation (Marae opt).
  • All players and coaches must be of Māori descent.
  • Players must be a member of an eligible rohe, affiliated with it, or have ancestral ties to their tupuna.
  • If permission is granted, players can be obtained from another rohe.
  • All players must be mindful of cultural protocol and adhere to NZMH Tikanga and its constitutions.

TEAM ELIGIBILITY

Rohe eligible to enter teams at the National Māori Hockey Tournament are:

  • Te Tai Tokerau
  • Tamaki Makaurau
  • Waikato-Maniapoto
  • Waiariki
  • Te Tairawhiti
  • Waiariki
  • ​​​​​​​Tai Uru
  • Takitimu
  • Te Waipounamu

As a standard procedure, each rohe can register one (tāne) and one (wāhine) team. However, the rohe hosting the event has the choice to register up to two tāne and two wāhine teams. Any additional teams beyond these initial registrations are subject to the approval of the kaunihera and the hosting rohe's capacity to accommodate them.

Your Rohe Delegate must approve and forward your registration to NZMH.
