CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT
At Tinwald Netball, we are committed to fostering a positive and respectful environment for all players, coaches, officials, and supporters. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for both players and parents/guardians to ensure an enjoyable and successful netball season.
PLAYER
As a player, I agree to:
- Treat all players with respect and kindness, just as I would like to be treated. Bullying will not be tolerated.
- Maintain self-control - verbal abuse and intentional physical contact are unacceptable.
- Play by the rules of netball and uphold the principles of fair play.
- Respect umpire decisions without argument. If I have concerns, I will discuss them with my coach or captain.
- Display good sportsmanship by celebrating great plays from both my team and the opposition.
- Support and collaborate with my coach, teammates, and officials, recognising that the game would not be possible without them.
- Take responsibility for my performance both on and off the court.
I understand that failing to meet these expectations may lead to consequences such as reduced game time or further disciplinary action, as outlined in the Netball New Zealand General Code of Conduct and Ethics.
PARENT/GUARDIAN (Year 7 & 8)
As a parent or guardian, I commit to:
- Supporting the elimination of verbal and physical abuse from the game.
- Addressing any disagreements with officials through the appropriate channels rather than publicly questioning their judgment or integrity.
- Teaching players that effort is just as important as winning, helping them accept game results without undue disappointment.
- Encouraging players to take risks and learn from their mistakes.
- Remembering that players participate in netball for their own enjoyment, not mine.
- Recognising and appreciating the valuable contributions of coaches and volunteers who dedicate their time and resources to the sport, and treating them with respect.
- Applauding good play by all players, regardless of the team.
- Encouraging players to follow the rules of the game and respect umpires’ decisions.
I acknowledge that failure to meet these expectations may result in restrictions on my attendance at games or other appropriate consequences as outlined in the Netball New Zealand General Code of Conduct and Ethics.
Players and parent/guardian's of Year 7 & 8 players will be required to read, initial, and return slip to their coach.
