FONTS

Although fonts are completely subjective to each persons' tastes, there are some do's and don'ts when it comes to selecting typefaces for your website. Users of Sporty are lucky to have a wide selection of fonts to choose from.

Do

  • Use easy to read, clearly legible fonts.
  • Use a contrasting font colour to the background that the font will be placed on.
  • Use complementing fonts - headers that are big and bold with sub-text that is lighter and more elegant.
  • Use the 'align' buttons in the text toolbar to balance your site's content.

Don't

  • Don't over-complicate it. The more fonts or font variations (bold, italic) that you use, the messier the page will look.
  • Don't use an overpowering font such as Impact or Arial Bold in your menu as it overcrowds the space around the word.
  • It's advised against using serifed fonts in paragraph text (serifed fonts are the fonts with the little flicks you see on the ends of letters such as this T in Times New Roman). Serifed fonts are great for titles, but were not made for displaying on the web.
