PLAY

At our club, we provide a positive, rewarding and first class learning environment, one that maximises potential, encourages a sense of belonging and a life-long passion for football.

We share and promote the vision and values of New Zealand Football and aim to deliver best practice in a challenging and professional setting.

We all do better in a club atmosphere that is enjoyable, inclusive and family orientated. We’re proud to be enthusiastic, dedicated and committed to all our members, supporters and volunteers.

With assisted discovery and a progressive development plan for all involved in the game, our aim is to develop talented and intelligent players with individual playing personalities and mental toughness to be competitive. We champion positive team ethics and respect is held in high regard, developing life skills on and off the field.

Grades and teams

We have one of the largest junior clubs in the Wellington region, with over 900 players from 4 to 17 years old playing for our club every weekend. From First Kicks for the pre-schoolers just starting out through to the Talent Development Programme squads (U13-U17), there are countless opportunities for young boys & girls.

Find out more about these age grades:

  • First Kicks for players born in 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019

  • Grade 8-9 (Fun Football) for players born in 2018 and 2017

Whether you want to play socially with your friends or push yourself to our top club teams, regional teams and maybe national and international honours, you will find a positive and nurturing environment with a coaching team that loves football as much as you do.

NZ Football framework

We follow New Zealand Football’s Whole of Football 2.0 Framework, which provides a modern, research-backed approach to junior football development across Aotearoa New Zealand. The framework is designed to create age-appropriate, enjoyable, and development-focused football experiences that help children build confidence, improve their skills, and develop a lifelong love of the game.

Whole of Football 2.0 places a strong emphasis on ensuring players have more involvement in the game through smaller-sided formats, increased touches on the ball, and environments that prioritise fun, learning, and participation. These changes are designed to better support player development while creating positive experiences for every child involved in football.

At Upper Hutt City Football, our aim is to place every player in a team and environment where they feel comfortable, supported, and challenged at an appropriate level. We believe that when players enjoy their football, they are more likely to grow in confidence, develop their skills, and continue participating in the game for years to come.
