MINI FOOTBALL (GRADES 10 TO 13)

When

The season usually runs from the first weekend in May until the last weekend of August (exact dates are confirmed by Capital Football each year). U10-U12 play on Saturday morning.  U13 play on Sunday morning.

Where

Our U10s and U13s play at venues across the Hutt Valley and also in the wider Wellington regional leagues. Fixtures are organised by Capital Football and published on their website.

What

For U10/U11, teams of around 10 are put together for the season, and games are played with 7 on each side.

For U12/U13, teams of around 13 are put together for the season, and games are played with 9 on each side.

Register your player

Registrations are closed for 2025.

Which team

During registration, players are offered the option to trial for one of the top two development teams in each grade, or they can opt to play in a social team.

Development Teams

"Skill assessment sessions" are held for those players wishing to play in one of our top two development teams in each grade.   The sessions are usually held in early April, before registrations are closed, so players need to register early if interested in this opportunity.   In U10 there are two equal development teams, but in U11-13, there are specific A and B teams.   Also in U11-13, the development teams play in a separate Capital Football Regionals League, against development teams from other clubs.   For more information please contact the relevant Grade Manager, or the Juniors Captain.

Social Teams

Each grade has several social teams, playing in varying divisons of the Capital Football Hutt Valley league.  The focus on these teams is about enjoying the game, and playing with friends.   Team selection is based on the friend requests specified during registration, and people you played with the year before.

Gear

We supply the playing shirts, which are to be returned at the end of the season. Players will need shin pads, boots, shorts and socks.

While not compulsory, you can choose to purchase official UHCF socks and shorts via www.footballcentral.co.nz.  Alternatively, plain black shorts and socks can be worn.

Note:  U11-13 Development Team players must wear official UHCF socks and shorts.

Parent coaches

We have several parents and whanau volunteers each season to act as coaches or managers to look after a team throughout the season – and we’re always too keen to find some more. The role is far more about children than football. There’s a ready-made toolkit to work with, and we always love coaches who are keen to let the kids’ imagination go crazy. Please let your grade manager know if you’re keen.

Cancellations

Cancellations will be made by Capital Football not later than first thing Saturday morning. You can always check the latest on the Capital Football website or Facebook for the latest updates.
