WAIKATO SECONDARY SCHOOLS SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Waikato Senior Championships spans over 4 divisions and caters for teams ranging in all skill levels. The Waikato Senior Championships is used as seeding for the NZSS Senior National Championship in March.

The Waikato Senior Championships is held in Term 1 and runs for 6 weeks total. Games are played on mainly on Saturdays, with some Friday evening games.

The 2026 season will commence on Friday 13th (Grading for Division 1) and Saturday 21st of February for Division 2 and lower.

Grading Round for Division 1:

Friday 13th February: 4.00pm - 9.00pm (three rounds: 4.00pm, 5.30pm, 7.00pm)

Saturday 14th February : 9.00am - 7.00pm

Week 1: Saturday 21st February

Week 2: Saturday 28th February

Week 3: Saturday 7th March

Week 4: Saturday 14th March – Division 1 Finals

Week 5: Saturday 21st March – Division 2, 3 & 4 Finals

Optional: Saturday 28th March – if required

Please note there will be a Friday away game for Division 1 teams at Tokoroa, Matamata, Te Awamutu and Te Aroha - subject to gym availability.

The Peak (60 Kimbrae Drive, Rototuna).

Hillcrest High School Gym (141 Masters Avenue).

Fraser High School Gym (72 Ellicott Road).

Hamilton Boys' High School Gym (47 Peachgrove Road).

Entry Fee & Eligibility

Fee

Division 1: $450.00 per team.

Division 2: $400.00 per team.

Division 3 & 4: $350.00 per team.

Eligibility

Players must be a fully enrolled student at their school.

Division 1 & 2 Requirement

As part of our ongoing mission to raise the level of play, all teams competing in Division 1 & 2 will be required to provide locally qualified referees at a minimum.

It is therefore a requirement for all teams in Division 1 & 2 to have numbered uniforms and be able to complete scoresheet and be understand the match protocols.
